I've been a happy hooker since I was in grammar school. That is to say, I love to crochet. I find it less stressful than knitting and easier to do in a spontaneous way. I remember making a shell stitch scarf when I was in 5th or 6th grade. Now many scarves, afghans, toys and booties later, I'm making a blog to share my love for crochet with you. Circus Hat With Braid Tubes
My newest hat creation. Someday someone is going to figure out I'm a genius and snap me right up. As silly as this hat looks, it's very comfortable. I have a bigger than average head which means most department store hats don't fit me. So it's really a blessing to be able to make my own hats in whatever size I desire. Some people have small heads but big hair so a hat like this works for them too. I wish I'd known how to make hats like this back in my clowning days.

Green Elephant
I'm crocheting a green elephant. This time I did his ears differently with double crochet instead of single. I think I'm going to make the center of the body a contrasting color because I'm running low on yarn and that makes more sense than having 3 green legs and a purple leg.

Halloween Necklace
I'm really digging this new necklace I made. And it's not even because it's a cool necklace. It's because I realized this fringe idea is going to look great on hats, cowls, and headwraps, and can hold all manner of beads and charms. It can even be done in a different colorway for holidays, seasons, or team colors. I'm even thinking of using the idea for a belly dancing hipwrap. I love when one good idea leads to another.Oh and what about kneebands to wear while hula hooping.

A Little of This, a Little of That
I'm going through a weird creative phase where I want to start new things every day. I enjoy the process, but I don't finish anything. So I started 3 amigurumi mice, and I worked on a squid I started ages ago, and as fast as I make things I think of 3 or 4 things I want to make. I just had an idea for a crochet 'cocoon' necklace. It will have an interesting texture. And I'm still working on my multicolored flower scarf. Then just this morning I realized St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner and I only have one green thing in my Etsy shop. I really need to get more into my shop.

Amigurumi Elephant

I just posted a baby circus elephant to my Etsy shop. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=7248063
Someone asked me if amigurumi was hard. If you can do single crochet, increases and decreases and crochet in a circle, you are ready to try amigurumi. Ironically the meaning of amigurumi is 'small knitted doll or toy' but most amigurumi by far is crocheted. I think something got lost in the translation there.
