Crocheted poi balls around a tennis doggy ball base. Posted by Picasa

Here she is wearing the hat she picked as one of her graduation gifts. She picked exactly the same color scheme as her sister, even though she didn't know about the other hat. Posted by Picasa

My daughter is crocheting another scarf after selling the first two before she even finished them. Posted by Picasa

Like mother like daughter.

I was crocheting on the Amtrak bus coming up from Santa Barbara, and I called my daughter in S.L.O. to tell her I'd be there in an hour so she could pick me up, and she was already there, crocheting. I held her curly white yarn project while she put my suitcases in the back. When I went to hand it back, I said,"Here's your poodle."
While I was here I went to the Michael's in S.L.O. and the one in Atascadero and got yarn. I also got yarn at Beverly's. Everyone has yarn on sale right now for the holidays. One lady had about 20 pairs of knitting needles in her basket and I said you must really like knitting. She laughed and said they were for Christmas gifts.

Free Form Crochet

I've started playing with free form crochet again (aka organic crochet). You know how great chefs never measure...they just use a little of this and a pinch of that? In free form crochet you use your intuition to combine all sorts of colors and textures and stitches into a one of a kind creation. It could be a poncho, a cape, a hat or whatever strikes your fancy. You are no longer stuck with following someone's pattern. Can you handle that kind of freedom? It's a lot of fun. Someone even wrote a book on it called Scrumbles.

Crochet some love and pass it on.

Michael's craft store is sponsoring a project called Warm Up America and a sister project for Canada. They are asking for donations of knitted or crocheted squares in any pattern, as long as they measure 7"x9". They in turn get made into blankets for charity. The Michael's near me has a basket at the front of the store to add the squares to. To find your local Michael's or for more information see the website. http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayArticle?articleNum=ae0095.
